There’s a reboot of the Resident Evil franchise coming to theaters in September 2026. Zach Cregger will be in charge of this adaptation, produced by Sony Pictures and its PlayStation Productions branch.
In an interview with IGN, the director talks about the direction he will take with this new film. It will be much closer to video games, and will probably focus on fear.
"My film will be inspired by the games and will follow a protagonist from point A to point B, as he plunges into the depths of hell", said the main character. He wants to recreate that feeling of tension that gamers can feel when they find themselves running out of life, in a dark place and with a monster ready to pounce on them.
