The Xbox handheld could be released this year and the next home console in 2027

We are getting more and more rumors regarding Microsoft’s future in the console market. And contrary to popular belief, this future looks set to be a busy one for the American company’s hardware division.
Windows Central reports that the Xbox handheld console, codenamed Keenan, is scheduled for release as early as 2025 if the schedule is adhered to. Its design should be in keeping with the brand’s machines. The device is likely to be designed in partnership with OEM, an equipment manufacturer that works with major companies such as Lenovo, ASUS and Razer.
The console would primarily be a kind of pocket PC and should run on Windows, with the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass at the heart of its ecosystem. Gamers might even be able to install Steam. The multinational is said to be planning to use the device as a full-scale test for widgets or to offer a more streamlined OS experience.
As for the successor to the Xbox Series X, Microsoft is aiming for a launch in 2027. The project has been validated by Satya Nadella himself. This home console will sit alongside the handheld and new controllers. It will also be closer to Windows, facilitating porting from a PC. Backward compatibility will also be on the menu.
Finally, these new controllers will be able to be connected directly via the cloud, making it easier to switch from one device to another.
