Watch ‘Perfect Match’ star Clayton see his ‘Bachelor’ ex arrive (exclusive)

Running into an ex is always awkward — but it’s exponentially so when you’re trapped on a tropical beach with nowhere to hide and cameras are rolling.

That’s the hellish scenario faced by former Bachelor Clayton Echard in the new season of Netflix’s Perfect Match. Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive preview of the uber-uncomfortable moment when Clayton sees Rachel Recchia — a.k.a. the woman he almost proposed to in The Bachelor season 26 — stroll onto the beach with Love is Blind: UK star Freddie Powell.

“Oh my gosh,” says a stunned Clayton. “[She’s] the last person that I thought would walk in.” Really, bro? Have you never seen a reality TV dating show before? They exist to make contestants miserable!

For those unfamiliar with Perfect Match, the dating show brings “the most famously single stars of Netflix’s unscripted series” together in a tropical locale. Season 3 will shake things up by adding singles from outside the Netflix bubble, including contestants from ABC’s Bachelor franchise, Peacock’s Love Island, and MTV’s Siesta Key.

Clayton’s Bachelor “journey” infamously imploded when he informed his final two women — Gabby Windey and Rachel — that he a) was in love with both of them; b) had sex with both of them; and c) was also still in love with former contestant Susie Evans. It was, dear reader, a true s—show.

Given all that, Clayton is mortified to see Rachel walk onto the Perfect Match beach. “I’m in trouble,” he sighs. Watch the reunion below:

The former Bachelor isn’t the only one who’s freaked out by Rachel’s arrival. In the preview, we see other female contestants — including Sandy Gallagher (The Ultimatum) and Madison Errichiello (Love is Blind) — fretting over the beautiful blonde. “Rachel’s stunning,” marvels Madison. “Like, I’m allowed to feel a type of way. Ugh!”

Rachel, meanwhile, doesn’t seem too rattled by the reunion with her ex, but she also admits the entire situation is “actually insane.” Let the mess begin.
