Warframe isn't Switch 2-enhanced because Digital Extremes has yet to get development kits

The Switch 2 optimization of Warframe isn’t due any time soon. For starters, the free-to-play game saw the light of day in 2013 and got a port for the first Switch in November 2018. Thus, gamers expect to see a version for Nintendo’s new console.

Alas, they’ll have to be patient. At TennoCon 2025, Digital Extremes CEO Steve Sinclair revealed that his teams have yet to receive development kits for the Switch 2, stating that his developers "can’t wait" and that they do "have plans" to improve Warframe on the machine.

Unfortunately, delays in the distribution of development kits to third-party studios mean that Warframe cannot yet use the power of the Switch 2. However, the Switch version will remain playable via backward compatibility.
