Ready or Not Interview – Console Performance, PS5 Pro Enhancements, Post-Launch Content, and More

Since its original release on PC, tactical co-op shooter Ready or Not has been well regarded by its fans for offering intense action that also promoted plenty of teamwork between players. Now, with the game getting ready to make its debut on to consoles, developer VOID Interactive has been kind enough to answer a few of our questions, ranging from console performance to post-launch content.

What prompted the decision to bring a game as intricate as Ready or Not to consoles?

After selling 9 million units on PC, we felt it was time to bring the title to console players that have been requesting the game for their platform of choice. The PC version is in a fantastic spot, so expanding to consoles was an easy decision! We’re fully confident that new players will enjoy the experience just as much as our PC community has over the years.

How will the transition from more precise mouse+keyboard controls to controllers affect overall gameplay and difficulty?

There is always a huge difference between the precision of a mouse and keyboard combo on PC and the comfort of console play. We thought a long time about how to optimize not only the gun handling part (aiming down sight, weapon movement) but also the squad commands. We’d already been optimizing for a console port in the past when we planned gamepad control inclusion for PC players. This test environment already gave us a feel of how we can properly adapt the controls for console players.

Will the console release come with some new content for all versions of Ready or Not?

We wanted the experience as close as possible as the one on PC. That being said, console players will benefit from two DLC levels for free as part of the Los Suenos Stories free content update, which will also be available for PC players too.

Did any sacrifices have to be made in terms of visuals to bring Ready or Not to consoles?

This is a very good question! We had to adapt some of our visuals due to age rating considerations given the games dark tones and subject matter that the game covers, but nothing that changes the overall experience that is Ready or Not!

Any word on whether you plan on bringing Ready or Not to Nintendo Switch 2?

We are always looking to expand the player base for Ready or Not so no platform is off the table!

As a developer, what are your thoughts on the PS5 Pro? How does boost in GPU help in developing your game compared to the base PS5?

The PS5 Pro represents a meaningful leap forward, especially for a game like Ready or Not where realism, atmosphere, and precision are essential to the experience. The GPU boost on the PS5 Pro doesn’t just offer more power, it offers games flexibility and increased performance to push visual fidelity significantly beyond what’s possible on the base PS5.

What are your thoughts on PSSR? What kind of opportunities will this open for the game?

As for PSSR on PS5 Pro, it automatically enhances Ready or Not through AI upscaling, delivering sharper, more high rez visuals without added performance cost, allowing for smoother, more responsive gameplay. For a tactical shooter where every detail matters, from identifying threats in dimly lit rooms to reacting in high-stakes scenarios, this increases immersion, with clearer visuals, and more believable environments. All in all these advancements in Sony’s tech make the experience more intense and atmospheric without sacrificing frame rate or fluidity.

What resolution and frame rates will the game target on PS5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 Pro?

Xbox Series X and PS5 is 4K with 30(fidelity) / 60 (performance), Xbox Series X will match the consoles max resolution of 1440p

What does the roadmap look like for the game in the next one year?

As part of Ready or Not’s Digital Deluxe Edition, we’ve already hinted at another unannounced DLC being included as part of this bundle. So for the moment, we do still have DLC on the roadmap for fans to look forward to, but the rest you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled on VOID Interactive to see what else we have in store.

Given the game’s success, are there any plans for a sequel or do you have ideas for a new IP?

We don’t have any announcement to make at this stage but we are really happy about the game’s reception and will keep supporting the title for the community in the future.
