Surgent Studios’ Dead Take Will Star Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur Icons

Tales of Kenzera: Zau developer Surgent Studios has revealed the two main stars of its upcoming psychological horror game Dead Take, and they’ll be familiar to you if you’re a big RPG fan.
Per a press release, the first big name joining the cast of Dead Take is Ben Starr. If you don’t know the name, perhaps you’ll know him from what are likely his most iconic roles, namely Final Fantasy XVI‘s Clive Rosfield and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s Verso.
Joining Starr as Dead Take‘s co-lead is Neil Newbon, whose voice you’ll likely recognize as that of perennially horny party member Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3. He’s also played roles in the Resident Evil series, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Detroit: Become Human, to name but a few items on his resume.

Starr will play Vinny Monroe, while Newbon will take the role of Chase Lowry. In a new teaser trailer, both Monroe and Lowry’s names are linked to another character called “Willie”; I presume they’re both actors playing this role, and in true horror fashion, it’s all going to get a little bit Black Swan.
If you’re not familiar with Dead Take, it was first announced earlier this month, and it’s the next major project from Tales of Kenzera: Zau developer Surgent Studios. It’ll also serve as the first big publishing effort for Palworld developer Pocketpair.
The game will take place in a “luxurious yet secluded Hollywood Hills mansion”, according to a press release, and will see players taking the role of an actor searching for their missing friend.
You shouldn’t expect too much high-octane combat from this one; instead, you’ll be solving “escape room-style puzzles” and splicing together live-action videos Immortality-style, hence the presence of Starr and Newbon.
Dead Take doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s slated to arrive on PC via Steam later this year. Stay tuned for more.
