“I feel like it’s abusive to post photos of your kids on social media, especially when it’s done in reference to something embarrassing or discipline-worthy that they’ve done.”
“Like, people on my friends list will post photos of their kids with captions like ‘X cheated on a test so now we’re doing extra chores’, with a picture of the kid cleaning, or similar situations like filming and posting when a kid has a tantrum or meltdown.
To me that feels needlessly cruel, considering that kid will eventually be an adult and the internet is forever. They will grow up with a negative internet presence with a bunch of embarrassing photos, videos, and text posts out there that they never consented to, which could affect their social lives as they get older. To be clear, I think it’s wrong to put your kids online at all because, data privacy really isn’t a thing in most of the world, but it is really gross seeing people punish their kids online like that.”
