GameSir launches new controller the X5 Lite

- GameSir have released their newest controller with the X5 Lite
- It boasts well-designed grips and triggers
- Pass-through charging allows you to play as you charge both controller and phone
It seems to be a day for controller releases, what with CRKD teaming with Goat Simulator and now fellow peripheral manufacturer GameSir pitching in with their newest release. But what does the X5 Lite bring to the table in an increasingly diverse market for mobile controllers? Let’s find out.
It’s not hard to see which niche of players the X5 Lite is aimed towards. It offers textured, cushioned thumbsticks and membrane hair-triggers that purport to offer maximum performance with minimum potential for stick drift. Not particularly desirable if you’re only enjoying casual platformers like Dadish, but definitely a must for hardcore FPS players.
What’s particularly noteworthy here, though, is the pass-through charging capability, which allows you to charge your phone and controller while you play. Which would certainly eliminate one of the primary issues with any controller, which is the difference in charge between peripheral and phone.
Ninten-do what mobile do-n’t
Just for an extra throwback, the X5 Lite also offers a Turbo function, instantly recognisable to old school gamers as a function back in the golden days of consoles. This automates repeated button presses for supposedly faster and efficient gameplay, although your mileage may vary depending on what you play.
The X5 Lite weighs in at a minuscule 135.4g, with compatibility between the iPhone 15-16, iPad Mini and Android. It also comes packaged with GameSir’s own GameHub software that supports various cloud gaming and streaming services to purportedly provide minimal lag for those using their mobiles to play.
GameSir will certainly have stiff competition. But if your pockets are a bit too light to invest in a controller, there’s a variety of great mobile releases out there which won’t break your thumbs. Check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week for just a small selection!
